Sonam Lhosar

Sonam Lhosar is a festival celebrated by the Sherpa and Tibetan communities in Nepal and India. It typically falls in February and marks the start of the Tibetan New Year. The festival is characterized by traditional dances, music, and the exchange of gifts. It is an important cultural and religious event for these communities, and is often celebrated in monasteries and community centers.

During the Sonam Lhosar festival, traditional foods are often prepared and consumed. Some common dishes include:

i.                    Momos: These are dumplings filled with meat or vegetables, and are a popular dish in Tibet and Nepal.

ii.                 Tibetan bread: Also known as "tsampa," this is a staple food made from roasted barley flour.

iii.               Thukpa: This is a hearty soup made with noodles, vegetables, and meat or tofu.

iv.               Yak meat: As it is a staple food in the region, it is often consumed during the festival.

v.                  Butter tea: This is a traditional Tibetan drink made from tea leaves, butter, and salt.

vi.               Sweet rice: It is a dessert made with rice, sugar, and milk.

These are few popular dishes but it may vary depending on the region and family tradition.
